After the match was over, Deepak Chahar proposed to his girlfriend Jaya Bhardwaj in the stands and asked for his life-long support by kneeling. In response, Jaya said yes to Deepak and the Chennai fast bowler made his girlfriend ring. Both looked very happy on this special occasion and expressed their happiness by embracing each other. However, Deepak's performance was nothing special in the match and he conceded 48 runs in his 4 overs with one wicket. Punjab Kings team chased the target of 135 runs from CSK in just 13 overs. Punjab captain KL Rahul played a stormy innings of 98 runs in just 42 balls while batting.

After losing the toss to bat first, Chennai Super Kings' team had a very poor start and in the fourth over, Rituraj Gaikwad made 12 runs off Arshdeep Singh's ball.
