Amanatullah Khan: On Monday morning, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted a significant raid at the residence of Amanatullah Khan, MLA from Okhla, Delhi. The raid started early in the morning and continued for several hours after that. Amanatullah Khan himself shared the information about this action on the social media platform X, in which he told that ED officials have reached his house to arrest him.

Details of ED action

When the ED team reached the MLA's house, first an attempt was made to stop them outside the house. After this, Delhi Police and Paramilitary Force were called, which delayed the raid process. A large number of Delhi Police and Paramilitary personnel were deployed outside the house, while the ED team took a lot of time to reach inside the flat.

Family situation and Amanatullah Khan's reaction

During the raid, Amanatullah Khan told ED officials that his mother-in-law had recently undergone an operation and she is currently at home. In the video, he also says that there is a shortage of money in his house and his wife alleged that no one is caring about their family's condition during the ED action. Amanatullah Khan also said that if something happens to his mother-in-law, he will take the ED to court.

Party and political reaction

The AAP MLA alleged that the ED's aim is only to arrest him and weaken his party. He said that his party and he have been constantly harassed for the last two years. AAP Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, and Satyendra Jain are already in jail, and now he is also being targeted. Amanatullah Khan called a 2016 case fake and said that the ED's move seems like a mere political vendetta.

BJP reaction

BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor has commented on the matter and wrote on social media that "Jo sow wahi reap", indicating that the action taken against Amanatullah Khan is justified.

Waqf Board and previous interrogation

Amanatullah Khan has previously been the chairman of the Delhi Waqf Board, and has been accused of illegal appointments in the board and illegal leasing of properties. In September last year, he was questioned by the ACB, and was later arrested after Rs 24 lakh and weapons were recovered from him. However, he was granted bail in December 2022.

Comments by AAP MP Sanjay Singh and Manish Sisodia

AAP MP Sanjay Singh commented on the issue, saying that despite repeated rebukes from the Supreme Court, the ED raided Amanatullah Khan's house. He alleged that the ED is working as a weapon of the BJP to spoil the atmosphere of Delhi just before the elections.

AAP leader Manish Sisodia also reacted to the issue and said that the main objective of the ED is to suppress and break every voice raised against the BJP.

Conclusion

This raid has raised a new controversy in Delhi politics and it has become clear that tensions between politics and investigative agencies may increase in the coming days. It will be interesting to see what is the outcome of this controversy and what kind of impact it has on politics.
