Speculations about Govinda's entry into politics started yesterday when he met Shiv Sena Ek Nath Shinde faction spokesperson and former MLA Krishna Hegde.

Preparations are on to contest Govinda from North West seat of Mumbai. This is the same seat from where Shiv Sena's Uddhav Thackeray faction has made Amol Kirtikar its candidate. After this step of Uddhav, Congress leader Nirupam is also angry as to why Uddhav Thackeray fielded a candidate on the seat that belongs to Congress. After this, the possibility of Govinda contesting elections from this seat had increased. Even a week ago, Govinda had met one Nath Shinde. Apart from this, an important meeting was also held three days ago.

Govinda had contested the elections from North Mumbai Lok Sabha seat in 2004 on Congress ticket. He had defeated Ramnaik, a senior BJP leader, from here. This victory of Govinda was special because he had won the seat which was considered the stronghold of BJP.
