Lok Sabha Election: Samajwadi Party MP Afzal Ansari from Ghazipur Lok Sabha seat of Uttar Pradesh took oath as a Member of Parliament on Monday. Speaker Om Birla administered the oath to Afzal Ansari as a Member of Parliament in his parliamentary office. Afzal Ansari's nephew and SP MLA Soheb Ansari himself has given information about Afzal Ansari's oath on his social media handle X. Soheb Ansari wrote, "Respected people of Ghazipur Zindabad. Gandhi of Purvanchal, Honorable Afzal Ansari took oath as a Member of Parliament today. Jai Samvidhaan, Jai Socialism, Jai PDA, Jai Bhim, Jai Hind.''

Why did he not take oath till now?

Actually, Afzal Ansari had not taken oath till now due to legal complications. In the gangster case, Afzal Ansari was sentenced to four years in prison by the court. After this order of the court, Afzal Ansari lost his Lok Sabha membership. He went to the Supreme Court against the court's decision, where he got relief. After this, on December 14 last year, the Supreme Court restored his membership.

UP MPs took oath on June 25

The Supreme Court restored Afzal Ansari's membership, but also imposed some restrictions. As per the Supreme Court's instructions, Afzal Ansari cannot participate in the proceedings of the House. He was not called to take oath on the basis of the court's order, but now he was sworn in separately.

On June 25, all the MPs elected from UP took oath of office. Afzal Ansari also came. He sat near Akhilesh Yadav, but when his turn did not come till the end, he got up and left the House.

Afzal defeated BJP candidate by 1.25 lakh votes

Let us tell you that Afzal Ansari contested the election from Ghazipur Lok Sabha seat on Samajwadi Party ticket. In this election, he defeated BJP's Paras Nath Rai by a huge margin. Afzal Ansari defeated BJP's Paras Nath Rai by about 1.25 lakh votes.:
