Mahakumbh 2025: This year's Mahakumbh in Prayagraj is emerging as a historic event. On January 14, 2025, the first Amrit Snan was organized at Triveni Sangam, in which Naga Sadhus took the holy dip first. After this, crores of devotees from India and abroad took bath in Sangam and earned virtue. The presence of a large number of devotees in this Mahakumbh being organized after 144 years has again proved the power of religious faith.

Importance of holy bath

In Sanatan Dharma, bathing in Mahakumbh is considered extremely sacred. It is believed that bathing in Mahakumbh destroys all sins and a person attains salvation. Due to this belief, lakhs of devotees reach Prayagraj with their families. This year, a tremendous increase is being seen in the number of devotees in Mahakumbh. On January 13, on the day of Paush Purnima, about 1.65 crore devotees took a dip in Sangam. At the same time, this number is likely to reach 4 crores on the day of Amrit Snan.

Presence of saints and their views

The presence of saints and sages has always been a major attraction during the Maha Kumbh. Mahamandaleshwar Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti of Niranjani Akhara said in her statement, "This Maha Kumbh is being organized after 144 years. The devotees present here are giving a befitting reply to the attacks on Sanatan Dharma. This is a spiritual message that no one can weaken our culture and tradition."

Swami Kailashanand Giri also expressed his views and said, "Our Niranjani Akhara is preparing for the majestic Shahi Snan. This occasion is rare even for the gods. Today about 3 to 4 crore people will take a holy bath. The central and state government have played an important role in making this event a success. I thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Both are religious and have contributed greatly in promoting Sanatan Dharma."

Attraction of foreign devotees

The attraction of Maha Kumbh is not limited to Indian devotees only. This event provides a unique experience to the whole world. A foreign devotee who reached Prayagraj said, "Mahakumbh is a spiritual occasion not only for India but for the whole world." Lauren Powell Jobs, wife of famous industrialist and former Apple CEO Steve Jobs, also became a part of this Mahakumbh. Swami Kailashanand Giri told that Lauren Powell Jobs is staying in his camp and she described this event as very special.

Grand management of the event

This event of Mahakumbh is not only important from the spiritual point of view, but its management is also being praised. Tight security arrangements have been made during the bath. The administration has made special arrangements to handle the crowd of lakhs in the Sangam area. The process of Amrit Snan will last for a total of 9.30 hours, while it is estimated that it will take more than 12 hours for all the akhadas to return to their camps after the bath and procession.

Closing ceremony and probable devotee number

Mahakumbh 2025 will conclude on February 26. It is estimated that about 35 to 40 crore devotees will take holy bath during this entire event. The presence of such a large number of people makes it clear that Maha Kumbh is not only a symbol of religious faith, but it also presents an indelible mark of Indian culture and tradition.
