CM Yogi Adityanath: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath attacked the opposition while addressing the assembly during the discussion on the Governor's address. He said that the opposition leaders have now started adopting Sanatan Dharma, leaving the socialist ideology. A total of 146 members participated in this discussion, of which 98 members were from the ruling party and 48 members were from the opposition.Opposition's changed stance on Sanatan DharmaChief Minister Yogi Adityanath said, "It is good to see that the opposition leaders are now accepting Sanatan Dharma. He also told his party members about this."Double attitude of the Constitution and the OppositionCM Yogi questioned the opposition's commitment to constitutional values and said that they adopt an unconstitutional attitude in their behavior and comments towards the Governor. He said, "You always carry the Constitution with you, but is your behavior towards the Governor constitutional? If this is constitutional, then what is unconstitutional?"Attacking the ideology of the Samajwadi Party, he said, "You give long speeches, but if someone wants to see your real thinking and language, he should check the social media handles of the Samajwadi Party. You preach to others, but fail to introspect."CM's talk on Mahakumbh and Sanatan DharmaCM Yogi took a dig at the opposition's changed approach regarding Mahakumbh and Ayodhya. He said, "I am happy that the opposition has now accepted Mahakumbh and Ayodhya. The reality is that Samajwadis remember religion only when they find themselves at the last stage of political existence."He further said, "This time you participated in Mahakumbh, took a dip and also praised the arrangements. If there were no world-class facilities in Mahakumbh, how would 63 crore devotees have come? By February 26, this number will exceed 65 crore." Status of Sanatan Dharma in IndiaCM Yogi reiterated the strong presence of Sanatan Dharma in India and said that out of the country's 144 crore population, 110 crore people follow Sanatan traditions. He emphasized that his government is working towards the revival of Sanatan Dharma as well as Buddhism, Jainism and other spiritual sects.Refutation of opposition's allegationsOn the allegations of a particular community being prevented from entering the Maha Kumbh, CM Yogi said, "No one was stopped. If someone disrupts the system, he is not allowed to do so. The Samajwadi Party never had any reverence for Sanatan Dharma, which is why they appointed a non-Sanatan officer to oversee the Kumbh during their tenure. On the contrary, I personally supervised the event."He said, "That is why they found dirt in the Maha Kumbh, while the reality was completely different." This statement of the Chief Minister has raised a big question on the working style of the opposition and their changed attitude.ConclusionThis statement of CM Yogi Adityanath makes it clear that religion and culture remain an important issue in the politics of Uttar Pradesh. The changed attitude of the opposition and the policies of the Yogi government are giving new dimensions to the political direction of the state. In such a situation, it will be interesting to see how effective this issue will be in the upcoming elections.
