The International Cricket Council has banned former Zimbabwe captain Brendan Taylor for three and a half years. For that long he will not be able to play any kind of cricket. Actually, Taylor is accused of giving late information to the ICC regarding spot-fixing. Taylor recently made a post on social media regarding this matter, in which he told about the incident that happened to him. At the same time, he had also accepted the mistake of not informing the ICC early. The ban on him started from Friday.Taylor had told that in October 2019, he was approached by an Indian businessman to be involved in spot-fixing. Brendan Taylor also shared a long post on Twitter to mention this incident. Taylor had said that while meeting the Indian businessman he was delusional and had also consumed intoxicants (cocaine). That businessman had also made a video of Taylor taking cocaine and on the basis of this he was threatening to do spot-fixing. Taylor said that the whole incident took a toll on his mental health and he is now in rehab.Taylor also spoke to the English newspaper Daily Mail after this post. Taylor had told that he had passed drug tests several times in the last two and a half years. However, he failed the drug test during the last international match in September 2021. The ICC said in its report about Taylor that the former Zimbabwe cricketer has broken the Anti-Corruption Unit Code on four counts. Not only did this include late reporting, but they also took gifts and cash.
