PSL 2024 / Islamabad won the trophy for the third time, Rizwan's slow batting proved costly for Multan Sultans

In the final match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 season, Islamabad United team won the title with a thrilling win by 2 wickets against Multan Sultans. In the final match, Imad Wasim's all-round performance was seen for Islamabad United, in which he played an important role in helping the team win by taking 5 wickets in the bowling and playing an unbeaten inning of 19 runs at the crucial time in the batting.

PSL 2024: In the final match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 season, Islamabad United team won the title with a thrilling win by 2 wickets against Multan Sultans. In the final match, Imad Wasim's all-round performance was seen for Islamabad United, in which he played an important role in helping the team win by taking 5 wickets in the bowling and playing an unbeaten inning of 19 runs at the crucial time in the batting. Batting first in this match, Multan Sultans team managed to reach the score of only 159 runs in 20 overs. After this, Islamabad United team, which came to chase the target, succeeded in winning the trophy by hitting a four on the last ball.

Islamabad's innings faltered after a good start, Hunain Shah gave victory by hitting a four.

Chasing the target of 160 runs, the pair of Martin Guptill and Colin Munro gave a fast start to the Islamabad United team. Even though Munro returned to the pavilion after scoring 17 runs in 13 balls with 4 fours, Guptill played a brilliant inning of 50 runs in 32 balls with the help of 4 fours and 3 sixes. At one time the Islamabad United team had lost only 4 wickets on the score of 102, after which the Multan Sultans team made a comeback and took 7 wickets till the score of 129. From here, Imad Wasim took over the innings from one end and made a partnership of 30 runs in 16 balls with Naseem Shah for the eighth wicket. Islamabad United needed 8 runs to win in the last over of the innings, after which they had scored 7 runs in the first 4 balls, but Naseem Shah lost his wicket on the 5th ball. After this, Hunnain Shah, who came to bat on the last ball, played a shot towards short third man and gave the team a thrilling victory.

Rizwan's slow batting proved costly for Multan Sultans

In the final match, Multan Sultans team had decided to bat first after winning the toss. The team had lost 2 wickets in the form of Yasir Shah and David Willey till the score of 14. From here, Multan Sultans captain Mohammad Rizwan along with Usman Khan definitely handled the innings but their slow batting definitely caused a lot of loss to the team. Even though Usman scored 57 runs in 40 balls, captain Rizwan managed to score only 26 runs after facing 26 balls, which included 3 fours. However, due to Iftikhar Ahmed's inning of 32 runs in 20 balls in the last overs, the team was able to reach the score of 159.
