South Korea News: There is news of a terrible plane crash at Muan International Airport in South Korea, in which 28 people have been confirmed dead. This Jeju Air plane was returning from Thailand and crashed after sliding on the runway during landing. A total of 181 people including 175 passengers and 6 crew members were on board the plane.

Accident during landing

While landing at Muan Airport, the plane lost its balance, due to which it slid off the runway and hit a wall. The plane caught fire as soon as it collided. 32 fire engines and helicopters were deployed for relief and rescue work. After the incident, the airport area was covered with black smoke.

Initial information suggests that landing gear malfunction is the reason

According to the National Fire Agency, a malfunction in the landing gear may be the main cause of the accident. The fire in the plane has now been almost controlled, but the work of evacuating passengers from the debris is still going on.

Rescue operation and survivors

So far, two people have been rescued alive during the rescue operation, including a passenger and a crew member. Rescuers pulled the passengers out from the rear of the plane. However, there is still no clear information about the number of injured and their condition.

President's statement

South Korea's acting President Choi Sang-moo has expressed deep sorrow over the accident. He immediately instructed to take all necessary steps for rescue operations and assistance to the victims. This incident happened on the first day of his tenure, as former acting President Han Duck-soo was under impeachment.
