With a view to prevent vehicle damage, Maruti Suzuki India has reached out to its customers in rain-hit Mumbai. The carmaker has taken several steps, including sending more than 3.5 lakh SMSes to the buyers informing them about preventive measures, to ensure that the damage is not aggravated.

Maruti Suzuki India has assigned area-wise service managers to help customers in distress. Besides, the mobile phone numbers of the service managers are being shared with the customers in their respective areas, so that they can directly reach out for any assistance.

For providing 24x7 towing services, India's largest carmaker has tied up with vehicle towing agencies. The company has also strengthened the inventory of spare parts to prevent any shortage and offer quick services.

Maruti Suzuki India has tied up with insurance firms for quick disposal of claims as well.

"In these difficult times, quick movement of people helps them to address challenges in an effective manner. We are committed to ensure full-fledged support to our customers in this time of severity. Our request to customers is to not start a submerged car. This will help prevent consequential damages," Maruti Suzuki India Executive Director for Service Partho Banerjee said.

"Our dedicated teams have taken position at workshops to handle customers' cars promptly. It is Maruti Suzuki's endeavour to educate customers to handle cars impacted by water intrusion. Our similar proactive initiatives in other instances of flood have helped reduce damage to their cars," he added.

During Cyclone Fani, Maruti Suzuki India had reached out to nearly 3 lakh customers through SMSes and informed them about preventive measures to avoid damage to vehicles.
