Before the municipal elections, the politics of name from roads to parks has started. In this episode, the Northern Corporation on Wednesday changed the names of more than 40 public places in the capital. The corporation has included freedom fighters in the new names.

In this episode, the Northern Corporation on Wednesday changed the names of more than 40 public places in the capital. The corporation has included freedom fighters in the new names. It has included the names of various personalities including Bhagat Singh, Udham Singh and Subhash Chandra Bose, Constitution makers BR Ambedkar and Maharishi Valmiki.

The corporation has changed the names of many public places from Pitampura to Shalimar Bagh and Chandni Chowk to Civil Lines. The personalities and leaders after whom the streets, parks and squares have been named include Sir Chhotu Ram, Gurjar Raja Mihir Bhoj and Sikh spiritual guru Gobind Singh.

Mayor withdraws proposal to rename Hauz Qazi Chowk

The Mayor of the North Delhi Municipal Corporation has withdrawn the proposal to change the name of Hauz Qazi. He has taken this decision after facing opposition from people on social media.

According to the proposal of AAP councilor Rakesh Kumar, this place was to be named as Hari Chand Verma Chowk. A notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner on March 9 said that it has been directed to inform that the Mayor has withdrawn the advance approval of the proposal to rename the Chowk with immediate effect. The proposal faced a sharp backlash from many on social media.

The residents of Chawri Bazar and Lal Kuan had expressed concern about the proposal. At the same time, Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor also opposed the move. He said in a statement that it had come to his notice that on the proposal of Councilor Rakesh Kumar, advance approval has been given to rename the historic Hauz Qazi of Old Delhi as Hari Chand Verma Chowk, which he strongly opposes. He said that Hauz Qazi is a historical name and has a history attached to it. Names cannot be changed as per law.

 All the three corporations passed all the proposals amid the uproar

The three corporations passed all the resolutions on Wednesday amid uproar. On Wednesday, there was a meeting of the North and South Corporation of the House, while the Standing Committee meeting of the Eastern Corporation. Due to the uproar, the meeting of the Northern Corporation lasted only forty five minutes. The meeting of the Southern Corporation also had to be stopped midway. The mayor tried to start the discussion again, but the opposition staged a walkout. The same situation prevailed in the Eastern Corporation as well.

The Northern Corporation called a meeting of the House at 9 in the morning amid discussions about the announcement of the date of the election. In the meeting, the ruling party started a discussion on the liquor policy, which was opposed by the councilors of AAP. On the other hand, Congress councilors sat on a dharna demanding a discussion on the issue of DBC personnel. But the side remained adamant on discussing the liquor policy. In such a situation, the pros and cons clashed among themselves. AAP councilors tore pamphlets and threw them in the air and started shouting slogans in front of the mayor. Meanwhile, Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh got all the proposals passed amidst the noise.

Beginning of the meeting with uproar: The meeting of the Southern Corporation started at around 2.30 pm. The meeting started with an uproar. You councilor started accusing the ruling party of corruption in front of the mayor. Mayor Mukesh Suryan asked Leader of Opposition Prem Chauhan to present his side peacefully. Seeing the commotion not stopping, he got all the resolutions passed and stopped the proceedings of the house for five minutes.

Milkbooths will open in 37 parks of Eastern Corporation

In the meeting of the Standing Committee of the Eastern Corporation, many important resolutions were passed. Mayor Shyam Sunder Agarwal informed that Amul Company will open milk booths in 37 parks of East Delhi for the maintenance and beautification of the parks. Amul company will pay normal license fee to the corporation and will take full care of the maintenance and cleanliness of the park.

Skill development center will run in entertainment center

The Standing Committee of the Eastern Corporation has decided that a skill development center will run in the entertainment center located in Karkardooma village. This center will be run by an NGO. In this, the organization will appoint electricity, water, sanitation and watchmen, where skill development training will be given to the local citizens.

BJP avoided discussing issues related to corporation: AAP

Leader of Opposition in the Northern Corporation Vikas Goel said that the Mayor rejected the discussion on the issues of the opposition and accepted the short-term question put by the BJP to get the Delhi government's excise policy and liquor contracts discussed. The BJP avoided discussing matters related to the corporation.
