Coronavirus India | Government Guidelines for Children: In view of the possible third wave of corona in the country, the central government does not want to leave any stone unturned to prevent this. Many experts believe that if there is a third wave of corona, then it can have the biggest impact on children.

Keeping all these things in mind, the Central Government has issued a new guideline for the treatment of children below 18 years of age due to corona. In this, clear instructions have been given not to give Remdesivir to children for the treatment of corona. Along with this, it has been asked to get CT scan done only when it is very necessary.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) under the Ministry of Health has issued these guidelines. In addition, it states that, "There is not enough data yet available about the effect of remdesivir in children under 18 years of age and how safe it is for them."

CT scan should be done only when necessary in children

The DGHS has said in its guideline that hospitals should use CT scans in cases of children with great care. CT scan of corona patients is done to find out the status of infection in the lungs. According to this, "Any additional information obtained during a CT scan has little significance in the decision made in the treatment of the patient. The medicines given to the patient depend on the severity of his illness and how much damage it causes to his body." Depends on how it is reached. Therefore, during the treatment of corona in children, the doctor should use it very wisely and only when necessary.

Steroids can be used in asymptomatic cases.

According to the guidelines of DGHS, the use of steroids can prove to be harmful for them in cases of mild and asymptomatic corona. It has also said that they should be used only in hospitalized moderate to seriously ill patients. Also, steroids should be given to these patients only under the supervision of experts.

The guideline states that, "Steroid should be used at the right time. Also, there is a need to be careful about its proper dosage and its timing. People should not use these steroids by themselves, it is risky." It is possible."

Advice on taking 6 minute walk test for children

The DGHS in its guideline has also advised for children above 12 years to take a 6-minute walk test with a pulse oximeter in the finger. This test has been advised to assess the physical capacity of corona infected children. This test has been asked to be done under the supervision of a parent or guardian. During this, if his saturation is found to be less than 94 and he has difficulty in breathing, then a decision can be taken to hospitalize him. Also, it has been said in the guideline that this test is not recommended for children who have asthma.

According to the guideline, in cases of mild infection, the dosage of paracetamol can be given according to 10-15 mg/kg. This dose can be given every 4 to 6 hours. In the moderate case, it has been said to give oxygen therapy immediately.
