Champions Trophy 2025: The tension between India and Pakistan over the organization of ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has not been resolved yet. India has refused to play in Pakistan in this tournament to be hosted by Pakistan, while Pakistan does not want to conduct this tournament in a hybrid model. In such a situation, the ICC has not even released the schedule of the tournament. This dispute is important for Pakistan, because after about 28 years it has got a chance to host an ICC tournament, which it wants to retain at all costs. Regarding this situation, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has put forward a new proposal.Pakistan's flexible stance for Champions TrophyAccording to Pakistani media reports, the Pakistan Cricket Board is ready to take a flexible stance to retain this tournament. According to reports, the PCB wants Team India to play at least one of its three group stage matches in Pakistan, which can be held at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. PCB also proposes that India can play the remaining group matches in a hybrid model, outside Pakistan like in UAE or Sri Lanka.Apart from this, PCB is also ready that India's semi-final matches should be played outside Pakistan, but if the Indian team reaches the final, then the final match should be held in Pakistan. According to the draft schedule, the final is to be played in Lahore, and PCB wants Team India to come to Pakistan for this big match.BCCI insists on hybrid modelThe political relations between India and Pakistan have been strained for a long time, due to which the Indian team has not toured Pakistan since 2008. There is also no bilateral series between the two countries, and these teams only come face to face in events like ICC tournaments and Asia Cup. In such a situation, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) wants Team India to play this tournament on a hybrid model as well.A similar situation was also there in the 2023 Asia Cup, when India played all its matches in Sri Lanka instead of touring Pakistan. The final match was also held in Sri Lanka. In such a situation, BCCI believes that this model should be adopted for ICC Champions Trophy 2025 as well. Will BCCI accept PCB's proposal? Now everyone's eyes are on whether BCCI accepts this new proposal of Pakistan or not. If this new proposal of PCB is accepted, then it can improve the cricket environment between the two countries to some extent and the crisis of hosting Champions Trophy 2025 can also be averted. But if BCCI rejects this proposal, then it will be a big question for ICC as to how to organize the tournament.
