Punjab News: After various farmer organizations criticized the decision to declare private warehouses as wheat purchasing centers in Punjab, the state government withdrew its order on Tuesday. Hours before the government withdrew the decision, two farmer organizations had announced that they would protest on Sunday against the decision to declare private warehouses in Punjab as wheat purchasing centres.

Punjab Mandi Board gave this information

Punjab Mandi Board Chairman Harchand Singh Barsat said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has directed to cancel the order declaring private warehouses as wheat purchasing centres. This decision was taken in view of the demands of the farmers. Barsat said the warehouses would be used only for storage.

That's why farmer organizations were protesting

Earlier, Sanyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) had said that the decision to declare private warehouses as wheat purchasing centers would make grain markets useless and they would protest against the move on April 7 between the Center and Punjab. Will burn effigies of the government. The state government had declared 11 private warehouses as wheat procurement centers on March 15 in view of the Rabi crop procurement season starting from April 1.
