Mumbai: Reliance Industries (RIL), the country's biggest private sector company (as per market capitalisation and profitability) has assured all its employees that the company will bear the full cost of Covid-19 vaccination for them and their immediate family members.

"As per our earlier commitment, Reliance will bear the full cost of vaccination for you, your spouse, your parents, and vaccine-eligible-aged children. You and your family's safety and well-being is our responsibility," Nita Ambani, non-executive director, Reliance Industries and chairperson of Reliance Foundation, said in an internal communication to all RIL employees.

She further urged all those employees eligible to get vaccinated under the government's Covid-19 vaccination programme to register quickly.

Worth mentioning here is that other than RIL, many other big corporates have shown interest to bear the vaccination cost of all their employees. According to a report in the Economic Times, several large information technology (IT) services companies including, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Infosys, Accenture, RPG Group and public-sector bank State Bank of India (SBI) have announced mass immunisation plan for employees and their dependents.

Indian Banks Association, an industry body for lenders, has sent an advisory to its member banks to consider paying the price of vaccination to its staff.

Since March 1, the Covid-19 vaccination was ramped up, with people older than 60 years and those between 45 and 59 years with chronic health disorders, now eligible for shots. Plus, the government has asked private hospitals serving as vaccination centres to charge Rs 250 per dose of a vaccine.
