Rajasthan: Rajasthan's largest government hospital SMS (Sawai Mansingh Hospital) is now going to be hi-tech. Here the surgery will start with the help of robot. With this, surgery for cancer and hernia can also be done free of cost under the Chiranjeevi scheme. For this, two robot machines worth Rs 25 crore each will arrive in the next one or two weeks. Such a facility is going to be available for the first time in a government hospital in Rajasthan.
Both the machines will be in the Urology and General Surgery department of SMS Hospital. At the same time, questions have also started to arise on buying this machine. There have been allegations that the tender process through which these machines were purchased. The conditions were kept in such a way that only one company was fulfilling them.At present robotic surgery is done in some selected private hospitals in Rajasthan. Apart from this, robotic surgery is also done in many other cities including Delhi, Gurgaon, Mumbai. Robotic surgery is mostly being used for minor operations. This is considered a better method for cancer, urological-prostate and general surgery.
The patient has less pain and does not bleed too muchDr. Jeevan Kankaria, Professor of General Surgery at SMS Medical College said – Robotic surgery is the best technology for day-care surgery. Through this machine, the biggest surgery is done by making very small holes in the patient's body. This reduces the pain of the patient. Blood also flows less. Along with this, he recovers quickly as compared to surgery done with normal hands or binoculars.Machine will arrive in a month, training will run for three weeksPrincipal of Jaipur SMS Medical College, Dr. Rajeev Bagrahatta said- The machine is expected to arrive in Jaipur within the next one week. After that it will take about a week to install it. After this, doctors will be given training to perform surgery with this machine on simulators. This training may take about 3 weeks.Patients likely to start surgery from AprilDr. Bagrahatta said- After installing the machine and training the doctors, the doctors can be sent to the hospitals of other states of the country for practical. How do they operate the machines there? Will get to see his live session. After all the process is completed, we expect to start robotic surgery of patients from mid-April.can get free treatmentDr. Bagrahatta told- Presently the rates of laposcrapy surgery are under Chiranjeevi scheme. We will keep the same rates for robotic surgery. Through this, diseases can be covered by Chiranjeevi and get free treatment. Will be useful in many surgeries including cancer tumor, colorectal bariatricDr. Jeevan Kankaria told that its use would be good in other surgeries including cancer tumor, colorectal surgery, bariatric surgery, hernia, eclampsia cardia. This surgery will become much easier after the advent of robotic surgery. These surgeries can be performed not only easily but also in less time. He told that if the doctors become expert in performing this surgery, then its results are better than laparoscrip surgery and normal hand surgery. What is necessary for the maintenance of the machineThis machine will be kept in the normal operation theatre. It will be saved from dust and soil. After installing it, the company will maintain it for 2 years. After 2 years, SMS Medical College will pay Rs 1.78 crore to the company every year for the maintenance of the machine and its equipment. Which will increase to Rs 2.25 crore in the next few years.Fully controlled by computerAccording to experts, the robot (machine) that performs surgery is connected to a computer, which is run by a surgeon. Through this system, command is given to the robot for surgery on the target organ. Visibility and accuracy become much better with the high quality cameras fitted in this robot. A 3D image of the operative area is also prepared through this special camera inserted in the patient's body. So that by giving it well, there is no damage to the delicate tissue around the organ (whose surgery is to be done).Indian companies are giving 15 to 18 croresAccording to the doctors of SMS itself, many companies are making such robotic surgery machines in India. Which is making available for Rs 15 to 18 crores. Today, in many big hospitals of India, surgery is being done with the robot machine made by the Indian company. In such a situation, doctors say that it would have been better if open tenders were done. With this, Indian companies would have participated and cheap machines of similar technology would have been available. Apart from this, their maintenance would also be cheaper, while after the installation of robotic machine of a foreign company, Rs 2 crore would have to be spent on maintenance every year.Tender was canceled after objectionActually, on August 8 last year, the first tender was issued for the purchase of robotic surgery machine. A pre-bid meeting was held on 17 August, but no Indian company could participate due to the terms of the tender prepared keeping in mind the machine of a foreign company. Not only did the doctors of the committee object to this, Indian companies also protested and demanded that tender conditions be amended and reissued. After this the medical college canceled the tender. After this, the same tender was repeated on October 29 and only one company was called in the pre-bid meeting on November 3 without any amendment. After this, this company gave the work order to the American company itself.
