Nagaland Election / Saffron's fortunes shine in Nagaland, BJP alliance sweeps all parties

Nagaland Election: The BJP alliance has done wonders in the trends coming from Nagaland. BJP alliance is ahead in 49 out of 60 seats and Congress is leading in just 3 seats. Apart from this, NPF is leading in 7 seats and others in one seat. In such a situation, it is believed that the BJP alliance will form the government in Nagaland with a clear majority. Let us inform that at present there is a coalition government of Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) and BJP (BJP) in Nagaland. It seems from the trends that this government will come back to power.

As soon as the counting of votes started in Nagaland, the BJP had taken a lead. In the initial trends, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio was also maintaining a significant lead. Voting was held in Nagaland on February 27 and counting is taking place today for 59 seats. BJP candidate Kajeto Kinimi won unopposed from Akuluto seat in Nagaland, hence voting was held for 59 out of total 60 seats here. In such a situation, the fate of a total of 183 candidates for 59 seats in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly will be decided today.

No female MLA so far

In the 60 years since Nagaland attained statehood, no woman legislator has been elected from here. This thing is surprising for Nagaland also because the number of female voters here is more than male voters. There are 6.55 lakh women voters here as against 6.52 lakh men.

A total of 183 candidates are trying their luck in the Nagaland Assembly elections, out of which only 4 are women candidates. NDPP's Hekhni Jakhlu from Dimapur-III seat, NDPP's Salhoutuonuo from West Angami seat, Congress's Rosie Thompson from Tening seat and BJP's Kahuli Sema from Atoiju seat are in the fray this time.
