Known as the 'Calendar' from Mr. India, he tweeted, "I came to Mumbai to become an actor on 9th Aug 1979 by Paschim Express. 10th Aug was first morning in Mumbai. Mumbai gave Work, Friends, Wife, Kids, Home, Love, Warmth, Struggle, Success, Failures & Courage to live Happily. Good Morning Mumbai & All who gave me more than I dreamt. Thx."

Satish Kaushik started his career as an assistant director to Shekhar Kapur in the film Masoom in 1983. He also acted in this film. His first film as a director was 'Roop ki Rani Choron Ka Raja' in 1993. He became a producer with the film 'Mr. Bechara' in 1996. Since then, there has never been looking back for this talented artist. He has always entertained the audience in each and every role of his.

His last film as a director was 'Gang of Ghosts' in 2014 and now he is coming back with his next directorial venture 'Kaagaz'. 

The film is a biographical drama written and directed by him and produced by Salman Khan and Karan Johar under their respective banners. The film stars Pankaj Tripathi and Monal Gajjar in lead roles. Amar Upadhyay plays the main antagonist in the film. It is a story about the struggle of a farmer who is declared dead on government records.
