Former RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das has been appointed as the Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He has been given this new responsibility after retiring from RBI in December 2023. According to the Cabinet Appointments Committee (ACC), he will work with PM-1 Principal Secretary Dr PK Mishra.

Shaktikanta Das News: Former Reserve Bank of India Governor, Shaktikanta Das, has now been appointed as the Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. After serving six years of successful service as RBI Governor, he retired in December 2023. Within a few months, he has been entrusted with this big responsibility. Currently Pramod Kumar Mishra (PK Mishra) is serving as the Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister, and now Shaktikanta Das will also contribute to this role with him.

Administrative experience of Shaktikanta Das

Shaktikanta Das is a retired officer of the 1980 batch of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). In his career spanning over four decades, he has held various important positions with the central and state governments in many sectors including finance, taxation, industry, infrastructure. He has been given this new responsibility in view of his efficiency and administrative capabilities.

Approval of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved his appointment. According to the order of the committee, Shaktikanta Das will hold this post along with the tenure of the Prime Minister or till further orders, whichever is earlier. He will play his role in the Prime Minister's Office along with Dr. PK Mishra.

Contribution as RBI Governor

Shaktikanta Das was appointed Governor of the Reserve Bank of India in December 2018. During his tenure, he implemented many important economic reforms and played an important role in keeping the Indian economy stable. Under his leadership, RBI effectively implemented various financial policies, which strengthened the banking and economic sector.
