There is a huge amount of drug smuggling in India through Pakistan. The Gujarat ATS said on Sunday that drugs worth Rs 2,170 crore have been seized in the last three years. At the same time, 73 Pakistani nationals have also been arrested in the smuggling attempt. The ATS claimed that Pakistani smugglers tried several times to use the Gujarat coast to smuggle drugs, but all such attempts were foiled.

Medicines worth Rs 1,466.18 crore seized in 2021

In a release issued by the Gujarat ATS, it was told that in 2021 alone, drugs worth Rs 1,466.18 crore were seized, while in the last two years, drugs worth Rs 704.04 crore were seized. This figure does not include seizure of drugs worth Rs 21,000 crore from Mundra port in Kutch district in September last year. That case is now being investigated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

Large quantities of narcotics seized

Between 2019- 2021, the state ATS has seized 427.3 kg of heroin, 6.65 kg of MD and 3.54 kg of brown sugar, the release said.
