Cricket | Former India cricketer VVS Laxman believes that Suryakumar Yadav should get a place in Team India in the upcoming T20 World Cup. The T20 World Cup will be played in the UAE from October 17 this year. He believes that in the limited overs series against Sri Lanka, Suryakumar should be played in all the six matches. Suryakumar, who played for Mumbai Indians in IPL, got a chance to debut for India in the limited overs series against England this year.

Suryakumar impressed with his performance in the T20 series and became a strong contender for a place in the Indian team in the T20 World Cup. However, the first phase of IPL 2021 was not special for him. But Laxman feels that playing at international level will boost Suryakumar's confidence. Laxman said during a discussion on Star Sports, 'This is a great opportunity. I want all of them to play 6 matches, 3 ODIs and 3 T20 matches. Because he is a player who can definitely make it to the team for the T20 World Cup.

He further said that I want Suryakumar Yadav to score runs at the international level and gain confidence. He further added that both (Suryakumar Yadav and Ishaan Kishan) took advantage of the opportunities. The way Suryakumar Yadav batted at number three, I was really excited. The way he hit a six at the international level against a quality fast bowler like Jofra Archer, it shows his confidence, skill and talent.
