Lucknow News: A horrific accident took place on Saturday evening in the Transport Nagar area connected to Shaheedpath in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. Here an old three-storey building, in which a warehouse of medicines was operating, suddenly collapsed. This incident created panic in the area and the security agencies had to immediately engage in relief work.At the time of the incident, more than three dozen people were working inside the building. Suddenly the building started vibrating, which the people working there felt like an earthquake. By the time people could understand something and try to get out, strange sounds started coming from the roof, which made them feel that the roof was falling. After this the whole building collapsed rapidly, due to which many people were buried under the debris.As soon as the information was received, the police, fire brigade, SDRF and NDRF teams reached the spot. These teams engaged in relief and rescue work pulled out 28 people from the debris by late night, all of whom were seriously injured. Also, the bodies of 8 dead were also taken out of the debris. The deceased have been identified as Manjit Singh Sahni, Dheeraj, Pankaj, Arun, Ram Kishore, Rajesh Kumar, Rudra Yadav and Jagroop Singh.People trapped and missing in the rubbleAccording to the administration, there was a motor workshop and a warehouse on the ground floor of the building, while there was a medicine warehouse on the first floor and a company warehouse on the second floor. After the building collapsed, relief work is going on continuously. Police and disaster relief teams are searching for missing people by removing debris with the help of JCB. Drone technology is also being used to detect voices within the rubble.Administration's response and CM's cognizanceThe District Magistrate of Lucknow and the local administration ensured quick relief and rescue operations. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took the incident seriously and directed to send SDRF and NDRF teams to the spot. He has instructed the officials to expedite the relief work.Expressing grief over the accident, Lucknow MP and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh shared on Twitter that he has spoken to the Lucknow District Magistrate over the phone and got information about the relief work going on at the spot. He has appreciated the efforts of the local administration to help the victims.Condition of the injured and treatment in the hospitalThe injured have been admitted to Lok Bandhu Hospital, where full arrangements are being made for their treatment. Eight ambulances were deployed on the spot and additional ambulances have also been arranged if needed.This serious accident has raised questions on the safety standards and quality of building construction in Lucknow. The administration has ensured that proper investigation and necessary steps will be taken after this incident so that such incidents do not happen in future.
