Stock market holidays from October to December

According to the BSE Holiday Calendar 2024, the stock market will be closed on October 2 on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti. In the same month, the stock market will also be closed on November 15 on the day of Guru Nanak Jayanti. The last holiday will be on December 25 on the occasion of Christmas, when the stock market as well as all other major financial segments will remain closed.

Current stock market situation

The Indian stock market is currently trading at record highs. Experts believe that the Sensex may cross the 90,000 mark by the end of the year. Recently, the Sensex touched a new lifetime high when it reached 85,978.25 points during the trading session. However, the market closed with a slight decline on Friday, and the Sensex closed at 85,571.85 points, down 264.27 points. At the same time, the National Stock Exchange (NSE)'s key index Nifty also closed at 26,178.95 points, down 37 points.

MCX also affected

The Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) trades in two sessions: the first session runs from 9 am to 5 pm and the second session runs from 5 pm to 11:30 pm. Both sessions of MCX will be closed on October 2 on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti. On November 1, the morning session will be closed on Diwali, while the evening session will be on. On November 15, the morning session will be closed on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti and on December 25, both sessions will be closed on Christmas Day.

Effect of market holidays

These stock market holidays will have a direct impact on traders and investors, as neither trading nor any kind of financial transaction will be done on these days. However, the closure of the market will give companies and investors an opportunity to reconsider their strategies, especially when the market is trading at the highest level.

During these holidays, investors are advised to make their investment decisions keeping in mind their trading schedule, so that there is no adverse effect of the market closure.
