A fire broke out at 12.15 pm in a slum built in Maya Colony of Arup Nagar in Shahabad of Kurukshetra district of Haryana. Due to this, two real sisters of three and eight years sleeping inside were burnt alive. The accident was so terrible that after the fire was extinguished, only the bones of the two girls were left.

The deceased girls have been identified as Sharda (03 years) and Radhika (08 years). Not only this, 28 goats tied to the hut in the arson also became a waste of time. The cause of the fire is said to be the stove built with the hut. It is feared that after preparing food in the morning, there was a fire in the stove, which became the cause of a horrific accident due to strong wind. Police reached the information and sent the bodies of the girls to LNJP Hospital for post-mortem.

According to the developments, Koshi and Lakshmi had a hut in Maya Colony near Arup Nagar on Shahabad Gumti Road. Along with hard work, he also kept goats. It is being told that after finishing the housework on Monday morning as usual, Koshi and his wife Lakshmi went to the railway station for wages.

During this, his two daughters Sharda and Radhika were sleeping in the hut, while six-year-old son Sunny was playing inside. He also had about 28 goats near the hut. A sudden fire broke out in the hut around 12.15 pm. Seeing the flames, Sunny, who was playing inside, ran out, but both the girls remained asleep inside. Before anyone could do anything, the fire took a formidable form.

Seeing the flames rising, people from nearby houses gathered and tried to douse the fire by throwing water. Nearby people also informed the fire brigade, police and administration about the incident. The members of the helping hand and others tried to douse the fire till the fire brigade arrived, but without success.

By the time the fire brigade reached the spot and doused the fire, both the girls sleeping inside were burnt alive. At the same time, 28 goats tied nearby also got lost in the fire. On receiving the information, Koshi and Lakshmi also reached the spot, but by then everything had been burnt. HSVP outpost in-charge Jasbir Singh informed the administration about the matter. Ambulance staff Ladi and Rakesh Chaudhary tied both the bodies in clothes and sent them to LNJP Hospital for post-mortem.

Family living in Shahabad for two and a half years

Koshi is originally from Bihar, but was living in Maya Colony for the last three years. Here the family works hard at the grain market and other places. The family had also kept goats for a living.

Cause of fire could not be confirmed

The cause of the fire in the hut is not yet clear. It is feared that the spark of the raw stove built with the hut may have been the cause of the fire. At the same time, the incident of fire is also being linked to short circuit. According to Shahabad police station manager Rakesh Rana, the cause of the fire is being investigated. The police have registered a coincidence report in the matter and sent the bodies for post-mortem.
