Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah chaired a high-level meeting with the newly elected Chief Minister of Delhi Rekha Gupta and other officials. He directed for strict action against illegal intruders, ruthless approach against criminals and immediate steps to resolve traffic and waterlogging problems.

Delhi Politics: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah today chaired a high-level meeting in the presence of Delhi's newly elected Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Home Department Minister Ashish Sood, Delhi Police Commissioner and other senior officials. In this meeting, important decisions were taken to strengthen law and order and coordination in the capital Delhi.

Resolution of Double Engine Government

Home Minister Amit Shah said during the meeting that the double engine government of Delhi will work rapidly for a developed and safe Delhi as per the expectations of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He directed the police administration to take strict steps to improve law and order and crime control.

Strictness on illegal intruders

The Home Minister especially directed to identify illegal Bangladeshi and Rohingya intruders in Delhi and expel them out of the country. He said that strict action should be taken against the entire network that prepares the documents of these intruders and settles them here. Describing the matter as related to national security, he said that it should be dealt with with full strictness.

Police reform and crime control

Amit Shah ordered the Delhi Police to take strict action against poorly performing police stations and sub-divisions. Also, he emphasized on adopting a "ruthless approach" against interstate gangs. He directed that the entire network should be dismantled under a top to bottom and bottom to top approach to end the drug trade.

Compulsion of police permission for construction works abolished

The Home Minister said that now Delhi Police permission will not be required in cases related to construction in Delhi, so that development work can be expedited.

Speedy disposal of 2020 Delhi riots cases

Instructions were given to appoint special prosecutors for speedy disposal of cases of riots in Delhi in 2020. Apart from this, Delhi Police was also asked to start the recruitment process for additional posts soon.

Direct communication with the public

The Home Minister directed that DCP level officers should go to police stations and set up public hearing camps, so that the problems of the public can be resolved quickly.

Special focus on women and child safety

Instructions were given to form new security committees to ensure the safety of women and children in JJ clusters.

Solution to traffic and waterlogging problems

Delhi Police was instructed to identify places of traffic jams daily and find quick solutions by holding a meeting with the Chief Secretary. Also, the Delhi government was suggested to make a 'Monsoon Action Plan' to deal with the problem of waterlogging during monsoon.

The decisions taken in this meeting are expected to strengthen law and order in Delhi as well as solve major problems like crime control, infiltration and traffic.
