Maldives opposition leader Qasim Ibrahim says that such statements should not be made about any country, especially your neighboring countries. He said that he wants to ask President Muizzu to formally apologize to the people of India and the Prime Minister there.

Ministers had commented against India

After this tweet by the PM, the ministers of the Maldives government made objectionable comments about the PM as well as India. After which there was a lot of uproar.

Muizzu asked to remove Indian soldiers

After this the relations between India and Maldives continued to deteriorate. Taking action against the ministers, the Maldives government suspended all three ministers. Here in India, people started the hashtag of Boycott of Maldives on social media. Since then, President Mohammad Muizzu has been continuously the target of opposition leaders. Just a few days ago, the President has asked to remove the Indian soldiers present in Maldives, for this he has given time till March to India.
