UP News: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognizance of the demands raised by the students in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. The students had appealed that the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) PCS Preliminary Examination 2024 should be conducted on a single day. On this, the Chief Minister directed the UPPSC to take necessary decision on this issue by communicating with the students. As a result, UPPSC has taken an important decision to conduct the PCS Preliminary Examination on a single day.What is the decision?Giving information about this decision, the CMO said that the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission will now conduct the PCS Preliminary Examination on a single day. In view of the concerns of the students, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had directed UPPSC to communicate with the students and take a decision in their interest. Apart from this, the Commission has constituted a committee regarding RO/ARO (Pre.) Exam 2023, which will consider all aspects of the examination and will submit its report soon.Exam will be held on old patternOn the instructions of the Chief Minister, the Commission has decided that the PCS Preliminary Examination will be conducted on a single day on the old pattern. Considering the concerns of the students, a committee has been formed for the RO/ARO exam, which will soon give its decision on this.Exam date and shiftsAccording to UPPSC, the PCS exam has two stages: Preliminary (Prelims) and Mains (Mains). Earlier it was planned that the preliminary exam of PCS would be conducted in four shifts in two days, 7 and 8 December. But now according to this new decision, this exam will be held in two shifts in a single day. At the same time, the RO/ARO exam was to be held on 22 and 23 December, for which a committee has now been formed which will soon take a decision and submit its report.Students' protest: What were the problems?For many days, there was dissatisfaction among the students regarding the UPPSC exam. They believed that conducting the exam in different shifts could change the level of the exam paper. The paper may be difficult in some shifts and easy in others, due to which the candidates may have to suffer.Opposition to normalization tooThe students were also protesting against the normalization process. According to him, under the normalization formula, the shift having more students can get more marks, while the shift having less students can get less marks. Students say that the advertisements of UPPSC and RO/ARO exam also talked about the exam on the same day. Citing the order of the Supreme Court, the students also said that the rules of the game cannot be changed after the game starts, then how can the rules of the exam be changed.ConclusionConsidering the demands of the students by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the change in the format of the exam by UPPSC is being considered an important step in the interest of the students. This will not only increase the confidence of the students but will also infuse transparency and equality in the exam.
