Delhi MCD Mayor Election: After the MCD election in Delhi, the mayor's election is going to be held today for which more than 200 security personnel have been deployed. Earlier, due to uproar in the municipal corporation meeting held on January 6, the election of the mayor could not be held. The proceedings of the House will start at 11 am in the Civic Center, in which first all the councilors will be sworn in and after that voting will take place. Different colored ballot papers have been kept for the election of mayor and deputy mayor.Election had to be postponed due to uproar on January 6A meeting of councilors will be held at the Municipal Corporation headquarters of Delhi today to re-elect the Mayor of the Municipal Corporation. Three weeks ago the first meeting of the newly elected councilors was adjourned due to a heated debate over the oath of aldermen. The proceedings were adjourned for the next date amid heavy ruckus. Both the main stakeholders of MCD – Aam Aadmi Party and BJP are making maximum efforts to bring in maximum number of members from their party in the Mayor and Standing Committee. In the 250-member MCD, where the Aam Aadmi Party won 134 seats, the BJP got only 104 seats, while the Congress got 9 and others 3 seats. The Congress has announced to stay away from the mayoral election, which means that out of 274 members of the electoral college, there will be a total of 150 members of the common man in today's mayoral election.
