A new debate has started regarding the name of the country. Recently, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat had appealed to the public to use the word Bharat for the country and not India. Now the invitation being sent for the G20 meeting has intensified the debate. There is an uproar on social media. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has claimed that in the invitation sent for the G20 meeting, President of India has been written instead of President of India.Jairam Ramesh has written in his tweet that earlier in the government invitations sent, President of India was written. He has raised questions by hinting in his tweet whether the name of the country is going to be changed. Amidst this debate, the discussion on Article 1 of the Indian Constitution has started.Know what is Article 1, what is its connection with the name of the country and why is the opposition mentioning it in its tweet? What is Article-1?Article-1 ie Article 1 of the Indian Constitution says that India will be a union of states. Supreme Court Advocate Ashish Pandey says, Bharat and India have been considered the same in the Constitution. In English it is called India and in Hindi it is called Bharat. It can be used as per need. It is not at all that it has to be used only India or only India will be written. Depending on the language and context, either of the two words can be used.President of India instead of President of India, right or wrong?Experts say, the government has used the word President of India instead of President of India in the G20 invitation, constitutionally it cannot be wrong. The constitution says, the word Bharat can be used instead of India.Congress leader Jairam Ramesh mentioned Article-1 in a tweet Why did the word India get so much importance in the Constitution?Advocate Ashish Pandey says, from the country's legal system to the constitution, many things are from the British era. There are many such articles in the Indian Constitution which are inspired by the British Raj. The British always used the word India for India. There can also be a reason why this word was retained in the constitution as well. After the constitution came into force, India was also used in the names and posts of the institute. Like- Supreme Court of India, Indian Penal Code and Chief Justice of India.Although many political parties had said in their manifesto that if they come to power, they will change the name of India to Bharat in the constitution. Although this is not possible so easily. How difficult is it to convert India into Bharat? To what extent is the India which Congress MP Jairam Ramesh has expressed the fear of turning into Bharat, possible? Now let us understand this also. Advocate Ashish Pandey says, if such a step is taken then many things will have to be changed. If we understand from an example, the word India has been used in the Acts and other rules of the country as well. This too has to be changed. Therefore, this process will not be so easy that change can be brought about in a day.If such a change happens in the future, then the word India will have to be completely removed and Bharat will have to be used. There will be many inconveniences in this. For this, the government will have to use the word Bharat instead of India everywhere in every document. This will change. To change the name, the Constitution will have to be amended. The government will have to pass a constitutional amendment bill for this. After passing it in both the houses, it will be approved by the President. Only after this will this be possible.
