Dense fog reduced visibility to 50 meters in some parts of the national capital on Monday, affecting road and rail traffic. Fog remained in parts of Delhi NCR, Haryana, Punjab, West Uttar Pradesh and North Rajasthan. At the same time, visibility remained zero in some parts of Punjab and Rajasthan, while visibility dropped to 50 meters and below in Ambala, Hisar, Amritsar, Patiala, Ganganagar, Churu and Bareilly. According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), there will be fog in these areas for the next few days. Due to low visibility due to fog on the roads of Delhi, vehicles were seen moving at a slow speed on the roads. At the ITO crossing, the drivers were seen driving the vehicles by lighting the lights of the vehicles.

Trains running late by one and a half to four and a half hours

A railway spokesperson said that 10 trains were running late by one and a half hours to four and a half hours. Skymet Weather's Vice President (Meteorology and Climate Change) Mahesh Palawat said that due to Western Disturbance, there has been fresh snowfall in the hilly areas on December 25-26 and cold winds from the northwest are reaching Delhi NCR through the plains. North India in grip of cold wave

Dense to very dense fog enveloped parts of north and north-west of the country and reduced visibility caused delay in movement of trains in these areas. A severe cold wave gripped the region with the temperature dropping in many towns and cities. Dense fog reduced visibility to 50 meters in some areas in Delhi, affecting road and rail traffic. A railway spokesperson said that 10 trains were running late by 1.45 to 3.30 hours. According to IMD, fog will remain for the next few days.

Normal life affected due to severe cold in Rajasthan

Normal life has been affected in many areas of Rajasthan due to the harsh winter. These days many districts of the state are in the grip of severe cold. Along with the cold wave, the dense fog has created difficulties for the people. According to the Meteorological Department, the lowest minimum temperature in two days was minus 1.5 degree Celsius in Fatehpur while zero degree Celsius was recorded in Churu. Similarly, the minimum temperature was 0.2 degree in Pilani, 0.5 degree in Karauli, one degree in Sikar, 2.4 degree in Bikaner, 2.7 degree Celsius in Bhilwara, three degree in Nagaur, 4.4 degree in Sangaria, 4.7 degree in Sirohi, 4.7 degree in Chittorgarh, Bundi recorded 5.5 degree Celsius.

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a forecast of dense fog and frost in the next 24 hours. However, from December 28, there is a possibility of a slight increase in the minimum and maximum temperature. According to the department, there is a possibility of reduction in dense fog in the state from December 28. At the same time, there is a strong possibility of resumption of cold wave in the first week of January. Cold wave and dense fog have affected normal life and traffic in many areas.

There was some respite from the cold in Kashmir due to some increase in the minimum temperature, although the temperature remained below zero in most places. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather is expected to remain dry in the valley till the end of December. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather in Jammu and Kashmir is likely to remain mostly dry. There is a possibility of light to moderate snowfall in the higher reaches with generally cloudy sky till December 30 in the union territory.

Severe cold in Punjab and Haryana

There was severe cold and dense fog in many parts of Punjab and Haryana. Narnaul was the coldest region in both the states on Monday, where a temperature of 2.4 degree Celsius was recorded. In Haryana, Hisar recorded a minimum temperature of 2.5 degrees Celsius, Ambala 7.7 degrees Celsius, Karnal 6.8 degrees Celsius, Rohtak 6.6 degrees Celsius, Bhiwani 5.5 degrees Celsius and Sirsa 5.2 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature in Chandigarh, the joint capital of both the states, was 7.4 degrees Celsius.
