CM Yogi News: On the occasion of the birth centenary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the Uttar Pradesh government has given a special gift to the passengers. The state government has announced a 20 percent reduction in the fare of air-conditioned Janrath buses. This decision has been taken with the aim of providing comfortable and affordable travel experience to the passengers in the cold. This initiative will not only provide relief to the passengers, but the income of the Roadways Corporation is also likely to increase.

How much change in fare?

Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh said that under this reduction in fare, the fare of air-conditioned 3×2 Janrath and Shatabdi buses has been reduced from Rs 1.63 per kilometer to Rs 1.45 per kilometer. At the same time, the fare of 2×2 Janrath bus service has been reduced from Rs 1.93 per kilometer to Rs 1.60 per kilometer. These new rates will be applicable from December 25, 2024.

Major benefits

According to Roadways spokesperson Ajit Singh, about 10,000 passengers per day will be able to take advantage of this reduction in fare. This decision will have a wide impact through 700 air-conditioned buses operating in the state. Apart from this, the reduction in fare is expected to increase the load factor of AC buses, which will increase the income of Roadways.

Change was made last year as well

This is not the first time that Roadways has reduced the fare. Last year also, from 16 December to 18 February, the fare of AC buses was reduced. At that time, the fare of 3×2 seater buses was reduced to Rs 1.47 per kilometer and the fare of 2×2 seater buses was reduced to Rs 1.74 per kilometer.

The decision will remain effective till winter

This reduction in fare will remain in force till the winter season. This will give the passengers the benefit of cheap and comfortable travel during the winter. This step of the government is not only positive in the direction of public service, but is also a commendable effort in the memory of Vajpayee ji.

Special effort in memory of Atal ji

This decision taken on the occasion of the birth centenary of Atal Bihari Vajpayee honors his spirit of public service and dedication towards the people. This step is an echo of his farsighted thinking and his commitment towards social welfare.
