YouTube deleted 9.5 million videos due to content violation. According to the report, videos uploaded between October-December 2024 were removed, out of which 3 million were from Indian creators. Videos containing hate speech and harassment were removed by AI detection system. Also, 48 lakh spam channels were also removed.

Youtube Video Removal: Google-owned video streaming platform YouTube has taken a big step and removed more than 9.5 million videos from its platform. This action has been taken against those videos uploaded between October to December 2024 which were violating the company's content policy. According to the latest report of the company, Indian creators contributed the most to the removed videos, whose 3 million (30 lakh) videos were deleted from YouTube.

Most videos removed in India

According to the data released by YouTube, 3 million videos uploaded from India were deleted from the platform, which is the highest compared to any other country. These videos mainly included content related to hate speech, rumors, harassment, which were against the company's policies.

YouTube clarified that this action was taken under their AI-based content moderation system, which automatically identifies videos that violate the rules. Apart from this, appropriate action was also taken after analyzing the videos reported by the users.

Videos involving children were the most affected

Out of the total 9.5 million videos removed from the platform, 5 million were videos that featured children. These videos showed children involved in dangerous stunts, harassment, or other unsafe activities, which is against YouTube's safety policies. The company says that such videos can not only pose a threat to the safety of children but can also spread the wrong message.

More than 48 lakh channels were also removed

YouTube not only removed the videos but also banned more than 4.8 million (48 lakh) channels from its platform. This action was taken against channels that were promoting spam, fraud or misleading content. When a channel is removed, all videos associated with it are also automatically deleted. Because of this, about 5.4 million (54 lakh) additional videos were also removed from YouTube.
