Coronavirus / 11 CISF personnel posted at Mumbai airport test +ve for Covid-19

At least 11 CISF personnel on duty at Mumbai airport have tested positive for COVID-19 in Maharashtra's Panvel, the city's Municipal Commissioner Ganesh Deshmukh has stated. The CISF personnel are believed to have contracted the virus at the airport. Four other people, including three international travellers, had also tested positive for coronavirus in Panvel but one of them has recovered.

MUMBAI : The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Friday said as many as 11 of its jawans posted at Mumbai airport have tested positive for coronavirus, news agency ANI reported.

"A total of 11 CISF jawans posted at the Mumbai airport tested COVID-19 positive. In all, 142 were under quarantine since last a few days. Out of which four were tested positive yesterday and six others tested positive today," said the CISF.

The CISF officials said the test result of one of its jawan has come negative, earlier he was declared positive of corona infection in first test. The jawan is in isolation ward as his sample has been sent for test for the third time and the report is awaited.

"The result of the first test of one jawan had come positive but in the second test, it had come negative. Now, his sample has been sent for test for the third time and report is awaited. He is in the isolation ward," added the CISF.

Maharashtra today reported 423 confirmed cases of coronavirus, out of which 235 cases were from Mumbai, the state's Public Health Department said.
