Bareilly: In the latest incident in the series of grim sex attacks in Uttar Pradesh, a 26-year-old man allegedly raped a five-year-old girl in Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh.How it happened Police said the accused, identified as Nazim, owns a shop near the girl’s house within the limits of Nawabganj police station in Bareilly. She was a regular customer at the shop. On Monday, she had come to his shop for buying candies. He allegedly lured her to a room with the offer of giving her chocolates and raped her.After the incident, the minor girl reached home with blood stains on her clothes. The sight left her family members horrified. Subsequently, they came to know that she was sexually assaulted by the neighbourhood shopkeeper, according to a report by The Times of India.Following this, the girl’s family called up the police helpline and filed a complaint against Nazim, but he fled before the police arrived. He was, however, traced and arrested later. An offence under Section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been registered against him.Police sent the girl to the district hospital for medical examination. She is said to be in a stable condition.Another incidentIn another incident, a man allegedly raped a six-year-old girl in a village in Jalaun district on Tuesday, police said, adding that the accused has been taken into custody.According to the police, the accused allegedly sexually assaulted the minor girl after taking her to an isolated spot while she was playing on Tuesday. Villagers, after hearing the cries of the girl, rushed on the spot and caught the accused. After this, the villagers called the police and handed over the accused to them. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
