Vardhaman. Three people, including a local BJP leader, have been arrested for killing a 74-year-old elderly man in East Bardhaman district of West Bengal. A police officer said on Sunday that the three were arrested on Friday and produced in a local court on Saturday from where they were remanded to 10 days police custody.
On March 9 in the Raina police station area, an elderly man was shot dead in his house at the post office Pada. The officer said the elderly man was probably killed because of money, as he had withdrawn the drugs from his bank account on the day of the incident.He said that although the accused claimed that one of the Cetavanash elders had been shot, and when he fell to the ground, they panicked and ran away without any money.The police officer said that the three were apprehended after finding out the location of their phone. The BJP leader of the 'central power center chief' of Vardhman North Assembly seat alleged that he was implicated in the case.
