The first bullet train in the country will run between Mumbai-Ahmedabad.

Agnihotri informed that a total of 502 km long high speed corridor is being constructed between Mumbai-Ahmedabad. Out of this, 352 km of track is to be laid within the state of Gujarat. For this 98.7 per cent land acquisition has been completed.

After inspecting the construction work of bullet train project on Surat-Navsari section, Satish Agnihotri told reporters that the work of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ambitious bullet train project is being done on top priority basis. Japan's Ambassador Satoshi Sizuki was also present on the occasion. The work progress report of the project is sent daily to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav. Agnihotri, in response to a question, claimed that the trial of bullet train on Surat-Bilimora (48 km) section would start in December 2026.

All contracts being awarded to Indian companies

Agnihotri said that at present 20 thousand people are working in the bullet train project. Soon one lakh people will get jobs in this project. He said that all the projects under Make in India have been awarded to Indian companies. Well foundation work is going on on Narmada Bridge, Mahi Bridge, Tapti Bridge and Sabarmati Bridge. Apart from this, construction work is in various stages at all the eight bullet train stations up to Vapi-Sabarmati.

Bullet train will not crash

Satish Agnihotri said that bullet train will never crash due to Japan's technical, rolling stock and signal system. This technique is called Crash Avoidance System.

- Construction of all 8 stations from Vapi to Sabarmati has started

- 118 foundations out of 128 foundations of Surat depot have been completed

The construction work of Passenger Terminal Hub at Sabarmati integrating HSR, Metro, BRT and two Indian Railway stations is expected to be completed by August 2022.
