Balasore Train Accident: In the Balasore train accident case, the CBI has today filed a charge sheet against three railway officers arrested. 292 passengers lost their lives in this train accident in Balasore, Odisha. Let us inform that in this case, Senior Section Engineer Arun Kumar Mohanta, Section Engineer Mohammad Amir Khan and Technician Pappu Kumar were arrested under sections 304 and 201 of CrPC.

CBI had told the reason for the accident

Earlier, the CBI had told the court that the repair work at a level crossing near Bahanga Bazar railway station in Balasore, Odisha, was carried out without the approval of the Senior Divisional Signal and Telecommunication Engineer and on the basis of unapproved circuit drawings. The CBI, while arguing before a special court in Bhubaneswar, alleged that one of the causes of the accident was the circuit diagram of the level crossing (LC) gate number 79 by senior section engineer (signal in-charge) Arun Kumar, officials had said last week. The repair work done by Mahant was at Level Crossing (LC) Gate No. 94 near Bahanaga Bazar station. Refuting the allegations, Mahant had claimed that LC Gate No. 255/11-13 at Km. 94 was not working properly, but the higher authorities did not "proactively act" about it. He had said that the concerned supervisory work was assigned to some other person, so he was not responsible for the accident.

Where was the negligence?

The CBI told the court, "The specific circuit of another LC Gate No. 79 to convert the operation of Level Crossing Gate No. 94 from 110 V AC to 24 V DC at the time of wiring work done at North Gumti in Bahanaga Bazar Railway Station." The drawing was used.” The CBI said that as per the manual, the present accused petitioner was required to ensure that the testing, repairs and alterations of the existing signal and interlocking system were carried out as per the approved plan and instructions. The court, referring to the submissions of the CBI, said, "It is found that the accused did not take any such step which led to the accident and in the said accident more than 296 passengers died and many passengers were seriously injured." Have become.''

296 people were killed, 1200 were injured in the train accident.

The CBI had arrested Mahanta and two other railway officials on July 7, 2023, in connection with the investigation into the accident involving three trains in Balasore. 296 people were killed and more than 1,200 were injured in the accident. The ghastly accident occurred when the Coromandel Express collided with a goods train standing on another line and some of its derailed coaches collided with the Yesvantpur-Howrah Express near Bahanga Bazar station in Balasore district on June 2. A special CBI court in Bhubaneswar recently rejected Mahant's bail plea on the ground that the material placed on record by the CBI prima facie shows his involvement in the case.
