India-China Relation: The India-China tension that has been going on for nearly four years on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh is now coming to an end. The armies of both the countries have completed the process of withdrawal from the disputed sites, raising hopes of stability in the region. Recently, China confirmed the agreement reached on the border dispute on 22 October, although Beijing has not made any specific comment on the complete withdrawal of troops from the conflict sites in Demchok and Depsang. The Chinese Foreign Ministry did say that both the countries are systematically implementing the proposal to withdraw troops from the disputed site.

China's stand on the withdrawal of troops

A historic agreement was reached between India and China on 21 October, under which it was decided to withdraw the troops. Commenting on this agreement, China's Defense Ministry spokesman Zhang Xiaogang said that China and India have been successful in resolving the border dispute through diplomatic and military channels. He also said that the soldiers of both the countries are implementing the agreement in a systematic manner. However, Zhang refused to give any time frame for withdrawing the troops.

PM Modi's strong message

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spent time with army personnel on the occasion of Diwali in Kutch and while addressing them said that India is firm about the security of its border. He made it clear that India will not surrender even an inch of its land to anyone. Expressing confidence in the strength and determination of the Indian Army, the PM said that the country is safe because of the Indian Army. Encouraging the soldiers, the Prime Minister said that the enemies should understand India's strength and their nefarious conspiracies should end on their own.

End of four years of tension

This agreement is being considered an important step towards the end of the four-year long standoff between India and China. Tensions in relations between the two countries had increased after the violent clash in the Galwan Valley in June 2020, leading to a military standoff in the Ladakh region. However, after several rounds of diplomatic and military talks in the last few months, India and China were successful in reaching this agreement. This success is being considered a major achievement towards a lasting and peaceful relationship for both the countries.

Positive sign for the future

This solution to the border dispute between India and China is a positive sign for the mutual relations of the two countries. It is expected that this step will provide a new strength to the economic, political and cultural relations between the two countries.
