With the victory in the match, Dhoni and Co have once again reached the top of the points table with 16 points. On the other hand, KKR remains at the fourth position with 8 points.

Gaikwad got out after a great start

Chasing the target, Chennai started well. Rituraj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis put on 74 runs for the first wicket. The pair was constantly under pressure in the KKR camp, but Andre Russell broke the partnership and gave the team the first success. Rituraj Gaikwad was dismissed after scoring 40 runs off 28 balls. Faf du Plessis (43), who was heading towards the half-century, was shown the way to the pavilion by the famous Krishna. Ambati Rayudu (10) was bowled by Sunil Narine to give Kolkata the third success.

Jadeja changed the match

Ravindra Jadeja played a big role in Chennai's victory. He scored 22 runs in just 8 balls. Jadeja hit two fours and two sixes in his innings. Jadeja got 21 runs in the 19th over against the famous Krishna and played a big role in CSK's victory.

Gill is run out

KKR got off to a strong start in the very first over and Shubman Gill hit Deepak Chahar for two consecutive fours. On the 5th ball of the over, CSK appealed for LBW against Gill and the umpire also gave him out, but Gill took a review and was given life after the ball missed the line of the stump. However, Gill was run out on the very next ball and returned to the pavilion.

Shardul shines with the very first ball

After Gill's wicket, Venkatesh Iyer and Rahul Tripathi took charge of KKR and added 40 runs for the second wicket. Iyer was slowly gaining momentum, but then Shardul Thakur took the wicket of Iyer (18) off the very first ball of his over, giving Chennai a second breakthrough.

Faf's catch went viral

After the wicket of Iyer, ON Morgan also could not show anything special and was dismissed by Josh Hazlewood for 8 runs in 14 balls. Faf du Plessis took a brilliant catch by Captain Morgan on the boundary line.

KKR scored 44 runs in the last 3 overs

Kolkata scored 44 runs in the last 3 overs of the game. The magic of Andre Russell was not seen and he was dismissed after scoring 20 runs, but Dinesh Karthik scored 26 runs off 11 balls while batting brilliantly. Nitish Rana also played an unbeaten innings of 37 runs in 27 balls. KKR made 171/6 in 20 overs.
