Himachal Pradesh News: The hill states of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are once again reeling under heavy rains. After the landslide in the capital Shimla, a large number of people got buried under the debris. So far 9 bodies have been recovered from the debris. Earlier, many people died due to cloudburst in Solan. Altogether, about 21 people died in Himachal within the last 24 hours. Dehradun Defense College building collapsed in Maldevta, Uttarakhand. Here a red alert has been issued for heavy rains in six districts.

In Jadon village of Kandaghat sub-division of Solan district, two houses were hit due to cloudburst, out of which seven people have died. The dead include four women and three men. Two people have been rescued there. A Shiv temple at Summerhill in Shimla was hit by a massive landslide. About 20 people who came here for worship in the morning were buried under the debris of the temple. Police administration is on the spot. The work of removing debris is going on, but the debris is so much that no person has been found yet.

Highway connecting Mandi to Kullu completely closed

Due to a cloudburst in Mandi's Nagchala, a rain channel carried a lot of debris and brought it down on the highway. Fortunately, residential houses, shops and high-rise buildings in Nagchala area were saved from the debris, but the highway connecting Mandi to Kullu has been completely closed. Efforts are being made to open the highway by installing JCB machines.

Red alert has been issued due to heavy rains in Dehradun and Champawat of Uttarakhand. The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rains in Uttarakhand till August 15. Red alert has been issued in some districts and orange alert has been issued in some districts. The building of Dehradun Defense College in Maldevta collapsed like a pack of cards after incessant heavy rains.

Police administration, SDRF and disaster management are on alert in the state. People have also been issued an alert to stay away from the river and big drains. While schools from 1st to 12th are closed in Dehradun, a holiday has been declared in schools and Anganwadi centers in Champawat.
