His son Kansa, contrary to his nature, snatched his throne and became the king of Mathura. Kansa's sister was Devaki, whom Kansa loved very much. Devaki was married to Vasudev. At the time of marriage, Kansa himself decided to drive the chariot and leave his sister to her in-laws' house.Akashvani and Kansa's angerOn the way, there was an Akashvani, which said that Devaki's eighth son would kill Kansa. On hearing this voice, Kansa got angry and put Devaki and Vasudeva in prison and their seven children had already died.Birth of Shri Krishna and the wonderful incidentOn the Ashtami of Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapada, when Lord Shri Krishna was born, Shri Vishnu appeared to Vasudeva and said that he was born as his son. Vishnu directed Vasudeva to leave Shri Krishna at Nand Baba's house in Vrindavan and hand over the girl born in the prison to Kansa. Due to the Maya of Lord Vishnu, all the guards of the prison fell asleep and Vasudeva took Lord Krishna safely to Nand Baba's house.Kansa and Yoga MayaWhen Kansa got the information about the birth of Devaki's eighth child, he immediately went to the prison and tried to snatch the girl. But the girl slipped from his hand and went into the sky and said that the killer of Kansa has been born and has reached Vrindavan. This girl was none other than Yoga Maya herself. Thus, the birth of Shri Krishna was a wonderful event, which came to establish Dharma and justice in the world. On the occasion of Janmashtami, devotees immerse themselves in the devotion of Lord Shri Krishna and enjoy his Leelas.
