Business | The name of the popular medicine to bring down fever during the disease of Corona, Dolo-650 had come on every tongue. Now a big disclosure has come about the company that made this brand. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has accused the Dolo-650 drug maker of giving free gifts of around Rs 1,000 crore to doctors and medical professionals in return for promoting its products. The Income Tax Department made this claim after raids on 36 premises of Bengaluru-based Micro Labs Limited in nine states on July 6.

Cash and jewelery seized in the raid

In a statement, the CBDT said that following action against the drug maker, the department has seized undisclosed cash worth Rs 1.20 crore and gold and diamond jewelery worth Rs 1.40 crore. The company has not yet responded to an e-mail sent to Micro Labs in this regard. The CBDT said, during the search operation, substantial incriminating evidence in the form of documents and digital data has been found and the same has been confiscated.

Wrong way to promote the brand

According to the board, the evidence indicates that the group has adopted unethical practices to promote its products/brands. The amount of such freebies is estimated to be around Rs 1,000 crore. Although the CBDT has not yet identified the group in its statement, sources have confirmed that the group is Micro Labs.
