New Delhi : The Supreme Court on Thursday refused to urgently hear a plea seeking a ban on the storage, sale and use of firecrackers in the national capital till January 1, 2023. A bench of Chief Justice U U Lalit and Justice Bela M Trivedi asked the advocate seeking urgent hearing to approach the high court regarding the matter.The bench said, "Let the High Court decide, we will not get into it." The advocate, who sought speedy hearing of the matter, submitted before the bench that the High Court has considered that the matter is pending before the apex court and It has been listed for October 18.The Delhi High Court had earlier adjourned the hearing of green cracker traders' plea till January 1. There is no provision for a comprehensive ban.The top court on Monday refused to stay the Delhi government's order banning the storage, sale and use of all types of firecrackers to check pollution in the national capital, saying it does not want to increase air pollution. .Last year, the top court had made it clear that there would be no total ban on firecrackers. Only those firecrackers, which contain the amount of 'Barium Salt', will be prohibited.
