Bihar News: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday said the services of more than 18,000 Anganwadi workers who were dismissed after joining the statewide strike will be restored. Kumar gave this assurance to a delegation of Anganwadi workers. The delegation met the Chief Minister at his official residence and requested that the government consider increasing the honorarium given to 'Sevikas' and 'Sahayikas'. The Chief Minister told the delegation that his government has been increasing the honorarium of Anganwadi workers from time to time and “in view of your request, an appropriate increase will be given soon.Protest was going on in BiharLet us tell you that earlier a large number of Anganwadi workers had protested outside the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) office. Many times the police had to use water cannons to disperse the crowd. In this regard, Patna District Magistrate Chandrashekhar Singh told 'PTI-Bhasha' recently, "A large number of Anganwadi workers gathered outside the RJD headquarters on Veerchand Patel Path in the morning. They blocked the traffic. Veerchand Patel Path is not a notified site for protests. Despite our repeated requests, they refused to vacate the road outside the RJD office. Ultimately the police used water cannon to disperse the protesters.Anganwadi workers reinstatedHe said that an FIR is also being registered against the protesters by the local police. The District Magistrate said that no one was injured in the protest. Adequate security personnel were deployed there to prevent any untoward incident. Anganwadi workers have been protesting against the state government for the last three days demanding their stipend and the status of government employees. Anganwadi workers had gathered near the Bihar Assembly on Tuesday also and tried to enter the Assembly premises. On Tuesday also, the police had used water cannon to disperse the Anganwadi workers. However, now the statewide strike has been called off and more than 18,000 dismissed Anganwadi workers will be reinstated.
