HARYANVI BRIDE / Haryanvi bride brought her own procession, got married on horse with sword in hand

It is a common tradition for Indian grooms to ride horses with the procession at wedding venues, but a bride in Haryana did the opposite. At a wedding in Ambala, a bride riding on a horse waved a sword in her hand and then reached the groom's house to get married. Along with the bride Priya, her parents and other relatives also reached the groom's house with the procession.

The bride came on horseback in the wedding

In most Indian customs, the groom reaches the bride's house with a horse in a procession, but Priya had a dream that he would reach the groom's house on horseback. While talking to the media, Priya told the media that she is very happy and it is like fulfillment of her childhood wish. Priya said, 'I am very happy. This opportunity usually comes in the life of boys, but in our house my parents raised me like a boy.

The bride's father wanted to do this

According to media reports, Priya's father Narinder Agarwal said that he wanted to break the myth that girls are less than boys. Priya also said that it was her father who encouraged her to study law. Not only Priya, many brides are now breaking old norms and reversing gender roles.

In a similar incident in December 2021, Anushka Guha, a senior air hostess of Indigo Airlines, led her procession on horseback along with her relatives and friends. The bride, dressed in a white lehenga, first reached the house of the groom, Jeet Mukherjee, a businessman from Kolkata, who attended the procession in a car.

Mother Sushmita Guha said, 'Since childhood, Anushka used to ask why only the groom goes to the bride's house riding on a mare. We used to tell him that these traditions have been going on for generations but could never satisfy him. She always said that she would break the tradition and do the opposite.
