Uttar Pradesh | The process of getting treasure from the houses of perfume trader Piyush Jain of Kanpur continued on Monday as well. After the recovery of Kanpur, 17 crore cash, 23 kg of gold and six quintals of sandalwood sticks bought illegally have been recovered from their Kannauj houses. The cost of sandalwood sticks is said to be Rs.6 crore. Meanwhile, Piyush Jain has been sent to judicial custody for 14 days.

According to a statement issued by the Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI), more than 194 crore cash has been recovered from Piyush Jain's houses so far and the operation is going on. On December 23 and 24, teams of Income Tax, CBDT and Central GST recovered Rs 177.45 crore in cash from Piyush Jain's Kanpur residence.

After Sunday night's arrest, the GST team produced Piyush Jain in the court of remand magistrate Yogita Kumar at around 4 pm on Monday. As soon as the GST officials took him inside the court, the doors were locked and security personnel were deployed outside. GST Special Prosecution Officer Ambareesh Tandon presented all the documents in the court and sought jail remand of the accused.

On this, an appeal was made on behalf of the defense advocate Sudhir Malviya, objecting to the cancellation of the remand. After hearing lengthy arguments from both the sides, the remand magistrate, agreeing with the point of the Special Prosecution Officer, sent Piyush Jain to jail for 14 days in judicial custody. Piyush Jain has admitted that the cash recovered from the residential premises is related to the sale of goods without GST.

Property from Kanpur to Dubai

Along with cash and gold, a large number of property documents have also started being found in the raids. So far four properties have come up in Kanpur, seven in Kannauj, two in Mumbai, one in Delhi and two in Dubai. Almost all of these properties have been bought in the most posh areas.

Crores of rupees in the house but walk by bike

If crores of rupees would have been kept in the house, then it is very minor to have at least two or four cars, but Piyush Jain's account was quite different. Even the smell of money could not come out, so that the living was very simple. Recently bought a new car after selling a 15 year old car but Piyush himself rides on the bike. He has built a luxurious cottage but the reason behind it has now come to the fore. To fill the notes, he spent a lot on the security of the house. The boundary of the entire house was surrounded by iron barbed fence but not a single CCTV camera was installed. The DGGI officers were astonished when they came home on their bike. Not only this, on checking the bank details, it was found that till now Piyush had 15 years old Qualis. After excessive wear, he had bought Innova after selling Qualis but he himself used to ride on the bike.
