Now after ten days, preparations are going on to immerse Bappa with full rituals. Bappa will be immersed on 28th September, on the day of Anant Chaturdashi. After all, why do we immerse Bappa on this day?

Just as an auspicious day is considered for worshiping God, similarly immersion is also done only after seeing the auspicious day. The immersion of Ganpati Bappa is done every year on the day of Anant Chaturdashi. There is a mythological story behind the immersion of Bappa on this day.

Mythological story of immersion on the day of Anant Chaturdashi

According to mythological stories, immersion of Ganpati Bappa is done on the day of Anant Chaturdashi because Ganpati Bappa is the lord of the water element. According to the scriptures, once Ved Vyas ji was narrating the story of Mahabharata to Ganpati Bappa and Lord Shri Ganesha was writing that story, but Lord Ganesha had put a condition before writing the story that he would not stop the pen and when the pen stopped At that time I will stop writing the story. Then Vedvyas ji worshiped Ganesh ji by applying mud paste to prevent Ganpati Bappa's body temperature from increasing. That day was the Chaturthi date of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month.

The story continued for so long that Ved Vyas ji closed his eyes while narrating the story and the story continued for 10 days, and Ganesh ji continued writing the story. When the story ended after ten days, Ved Vyas ji opened his eyes and saw that Ganpati Bappa's body temperature had increased a lot. Then Vedvyas ji immersed Ganesh ji in water to cool down his body temperature and after some time Ganpati ji's body cooled down. The day when the writing work of Mahabharata was finished, it was Anant Chaturdashi. Since then it is believed that Lord Shri Ganesha is immersed in water to cool him down.
