So far, Rs 1,97,000 crore has been spent on PM Awas Yojana Gramin, of which Rs 1,44,162 crore has been borne by the central government. The period of PM Awas Yojana has been extended by the Modi cabinet and for this more than Rs 2,17,257 crore has been approved, in which the total expenditure of the central government will be around Rs 1,44,000 crore.

Center extended the duration of the scheme

The government's target was that there is a need to provide pucca houses to two crore 63 lakh people in the country. Under the scheme, by March 2022, about two crore 5 lakh houses have been built across the country. In order to provide pucca houses to all the poor families, the government has extended the period of PM Awas Yojana till the year 2024.

The Center has sanctioned Rs 2.17 lakh crore more for this scheme.

Rs 1.20 lakh is given for construction of houses in urban and Rs 1.30 lakh in rural areas.
