MP New CM: Madhya Pradesh's new Chief Minister Mohan Yadav took the oath of office and secrecy on Wednesday. He is the 19th Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. The swearing-in ceremony took place at Motilal Nehru Stadium in Bhopal. Jagdish Deora and Rajendra Shukla took oath as Deputy Deputy Chief Ministers. Governor Mangubhai Patel administered the oath to everyone. At present no other MLA has taken oath as a minister. The speculations going on since the election results were declared on December 3 were put to an end at that time. When BJP on Monday announced the name of Mohan Yadav as the new Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, veteran BJP leader Shivraj Singh Chouhan missed out on making the record of holding the post of Chief Minister for the fifth time.Yadav was elected MLA from Ujjain South seat for the first time in 2013.Mohan Yadav is considered close to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). However, he himself did not expect to become the Chief Minister. He belongs to the Other Backward Class (OBC) community, which constitutes more than 48 per cent of the state's population. After being named Chief Minister on Monday, Mohan Yadav met Governor Mangubhai Patel and staked claim to form the next government. Yadav was elected MLA from Ujjain South seat for the first time in 2013. He retained the assembly seat in 2018 and again in 2023. In last month's assembly elections, BJP won a thumping majority by winning 163 out of 230 assembly seats in the state, while Congress came into the role of the main opposition with 66 seats.
