Share Market News: The stock market started with weakness on Monday, the first trading day of the week. The BSE Sensex opened 132.81 points lower at 82,052.65, while the NSE Nifty is trading 25.90 points lower at 24,742.40. After a stellar performance last week, the market has started slow this week, with major heavyweight stocks under pressure.

Declining and rising stocks

Talking about the declining stocks in the stock market, major stocks like KOTAKBANK, AXISBANK, MARUTI, NTPC, INFOSYS, HDFCBANK and TITAN have registered a decline.

At the same time, some stocks showed strength despite the initial decline. These include M&M, HCLTECH, RELIANCE, ITC and INDUSINDBK, which are leading the market rally.

Last week's performance

Last week, there was a tremendous rise in the stock market. On a weekly basis, the Sensex had gained a total of 623.07 points (0.76%) and the Nifty had gained 90.5 points (0.36%).

The market valuation (market cap) of 5 out of the 10 most valuable companies of the Sensex increased by Rs 1,13,117 crore.

Bharti Airtel registered the highest gain.

Apart from this, the market cap of TCS, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, and Infosys also increased.

Stocks remained in decline

However, the valuation of some big companies declined. These include Reliance Industries, State Bank of India (SBI), Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), ITC and Hindustan Unilever.

Key factors for the week

This week the market movement will depend on global indicators, signals related to interest rates from the US Federal Reserve, crude oil prices, and the movement of the rupee against the dollar. Apart from this, the quarterly results of companies will also attract the attention of investors.

Advice for investors

Investors are advised to remain cautious in the current market situation. Investing in select stocks with strong fundamentals during a downtrend can be profitable. At the same time, it is important to analyze the market trend before taking risks in small and midcap stocks.

Conclusion

Monday's weakness in the stock market may be temporary, as last week's strong performance indicates market stability. However, investors will have to keep an eye on upcoming economic and global events. The market trend in the coming days will make it clear whether this downtrend is a correction or the beginning of a bigger trend.
